The Word of the Day Is JackpotAs noticed by Gawker this morning when reported by Variety, Stephen Colbert has landed a Colbert Report book deal with Warner Books. Sure, between my sleeping late and the press release from Warner making its way to us by way of FishbowlNY, I'm only getting around to it now, but by working directly off the release, I can tell you the deal's so pre-emptive that it required the skills of two agents—James Dixon of Dixon Talent and Dan Strone of Trident Media Group—to negotiate Colbert's seven-figure advance. And who are they? Well, Strone's a literary agent on a bit of a roll; last week, he sold the memoir of Johnny Cash's first wife and a political book by former Nixon aide Geoff Shepard, and he also represents racing star Danica Patrick, Michael Flatley, Paris Hilton, Emme, Laci Peterson's mom, Mel Brooks, Penn Jillette, Cheryl Ladd, and (no surprise, right?) Jon Stewart. Dixon Talent, on the other hand, is an entertainment talent agency, which in addition to managing Stewart and Colbert also works with Jackhole Industries, the production company co-owned by Adam Carolla, Jimmy Kimmel and Daniel Kellison.
