They Love LibrariesWith book borrowing on the decline - not just here but in the UK - a new campaign called Love Libraries has sprung up to try to reverse this trend. As such, over 150 authors, including J.K. Rowling, Mark Haddon and Salman Rushdie have come aboard with their support of the campaign, and libraries in general. In a press release, Rowling called the library "magical, mystical place, hushed and unhurried, where visitors could enter a thousand different worlds". Haddon said they are "the NHS for the imagination, and we should hang on to it for dear life". The campaign, which kicked off in March, will have authors appear in libraries or speak out about the contribution libraries make to public life. Email This Post |
