Jane Smiley and Laura Hillenbrand will be among the literary judges for an essay contest sponsored by Glamour on the theme of "My Great Real Life Story." In addition to a $5,000 cash prize and possible publication in a future issue of Glamour, the winner will also get flown out to New York and quite possibly meet with literary agent Betsy Lerner to discuss whether or not her 2,500-3,500 word story has enough "original style and compelling story" to make a book. And, one assumes, whether it really is her great real life story—say, maybe this could be the perfect way for Laura Albert to break her media silence and reach out to a whole new audience!
