The 2007 Financial Times/Goldman Sachs Business Book of the Year award was presented last night in London to The Last Tycoons, a history of Lazard Frères & Co. by former investigative journalist turned investment banker William D. Cohan (who actually spent six years at Lazard before eventually landing a managing directorship at JPMorgan Chase). According to Financial Times correspondent Andrew Hill, Cohan's book secured the prize only after a fierce debate among the judges, many of whom wanted to pick Alan Greenspan's The Age of Turbulence.
