Once, Jeffrey Archer was on top of the world. His books sold millions, he was a member of the House of Lords, and all seemed right. Then the corruption scandal, jail time, and disgrace. Except that by the looks of things, he may be climbing back up to top status once more - especially with a rumored 12 million pound book deal in his pocket.

The Daily Mail reports that Macmillan has reportedly offered the peer a contract to write three novels and a book of short stories over the next six years. Under the latest deal, A PRISONER OF BIRTH - the story of a young sailor falsely accused of treason who is imprisoned in an island fortress - is set to be completed next year. The second book is likely to be a novel based on George Mallory's 1924 ill-fated attempt to climb Everest. The mountaineer died attempting to tackle the world's highest peak, but some believe he successfully reached the top and only died on his way back down. But Archer's comeback will only be complete if he's let back into the House of Lords. He's applied, but Tory leader David Cameron said he would not want Lord Archer sitting on the Tory benches in the House of Lords.
