Book TV Goes Inside the NYTBR

nytbr_tanenhaus.jpgBoy, this week is certainly the week of transparency for the New York Times Book Review. Since Monday, editor Sam Tanenhaus (left) has been answering selected questions about how the NYTBR runs its ship, and now C-SPAN2′s Book TV will take viewers behind the scenes at its 43rd street offices in an hour-long program airing this Sunday at 11 AM (re-airing at 7 PM.) The program, taped on October 29, will highlight how the section is assembled while talking to key preview (or assignment) editors—such as Dwight Garner, Barry Gewen and Ihsan Taylor —and book review staff to learn about the criteria and decision-making process for choosing books and reviewers, the development of graphics, headlines and pull quotes, copy editing and other visual elements that go into the production of the weekly section. No word on whether any brownies were consumed while making this program…
