BookExpo: Still More Photos from the Weekend
Hey, if The Written Nerd is only just now getting to its BookExpo field reports, I’m allowed to keep sifting through my notes, too!

YA authors Cecil Castellucci, David Levithan, and Barry Lyga unwind at Saturday night’s independent press party at the Hotel Figueroa. The fact that this party was just a few blocks up the road from the convention center made it a popular early-evening destination. (And check it out: There’s FishbowlLA‘s Tina Dupuy in the background!)

As the show was winding down Sunday afternoon, Unshelved creators Bill Barnes and Gene Ambaum hosted a webcomics group signing at their booth. [From left to right: Jorge Cham (Ph.D. Comics), Dave Kellett (Sheldon), Barnes, and David Malki (Wondermark).] In addition to several collections of the Unshelved strip, the booth was also stocked with T-shirts and messenger bags; Barnes told me that not only were they doing a brisk online mail-order business, but that so many bookstores had shown interest in selling their merchandise that they’d had to set up their own distribution company.
