I hinted I could use some new T-shirts earlier this month, some of you heard the call, and this weekend, the GalleyCat Army and I got together to inspect the goods. At left, I'm testing out the Edward R. Murrow High School's 2006 National High School Chess Championship T-shirt, which is actually from a team that came after the one Michael Weinreb wrote about in his just-published The Kings of New York, and that seems to leave GalleyCat #1 a little nonplussed, but that's okay—she responds the same way to pretty much everything in life except for treats. Then, at right, GalleyCat #2 inspects the catchphrase on the back of the shirt for Dr. Lynn Jacob & Jeremy Hyman's Professors' Guide to Getting Good Grades in College. As you can see, #2 is a very intense reader.
