I love how this promotional film for the novel Plague War starts out like an action movie—and then it turns out that all that running around was just a setup to introduce author Jeff Carlson, who proceeds to explain the high concept underpinning his story (which began in Plague Year) and even throws in a bit of drama, subverting viewers' sympathies in a wicked twist. As I've mentioned before in the context of science fiction book trailers, Carlson doesn't really have to share too much plot—it's enough here to set up an intriguing premise and allow viewers to ask themselves, "yeah, what would happen then?"
