This morning's Page Six delivers another large portion of undisclosed News Corp. synergy, with a blazingly enthusiastic plug for Huffington Post regular Michael Tonello's forthcoming William Morrow tome, Bringing Home the Birkin, which is apparently about some overhyped handbag (which makes all the web ads for Louis Vuitton plastered around the item that much funnier). The item claims that an advance copy of the book fetched nearly $1,000 on eBay, which must be a real delight for every publisher who's desperate to stop the sale of ARCs on the site. (Come to think of it, Morrow's the publisher that started numbering Neil Gaiman galleys to thwart online sales.)
"Tonello's hysterical tome about catering to desperate 'label whores' is sure to be on many uptown bedside tables when it arrives in April," says the gossip column, and, showing the love right back, Tonell's home page declares, "Bringing Home the Birkin is a must read for fans of Shopaholic, Sex and the City, and Page Six."
