Stephen King's Cell is coming out next week, and as part of the big marketing push, Scribner's coming to your cell phones. In today's WSJ, Jeffrey Trachtenberg describes a marketing campaign that, among other things, "will give Mr. King's fans the opportunity to buy ring tones of his voice."
"One ring tone consists of Mr. King stating: 'Beware. The next call you take may be your last.' The second, also in Mr. King's voice, says: 'It's okay, it's a normie calling.'"
Personally, if I was going to go to all the trouble to download Stephen King's voice onto my cellphone, I'd want my ring tone to be something cool, like "Red rum, red rum" or even "M-O-O-N, that spells phone!"
