Well of course they want their book deal ASAPThough the curious case of John Mark Karr is largely outside the scope of GalleyCat - and thank god for that, because keeping up is enough to make my head hurt - the fact that his family has hired actor, author and producer Larry Garrison to represent them in any media deals vaults the story onto these virtual pages. And so, Garrison told the Associated Press that while the family's film and book rights are secured, no money has changed hands yet. He said he promised the Karrs a portion of any money made by the effort. "They're not looking for money for themselves," Garrison said. "They're looking to support John's boys' college education and to make sure all legal fees are covered." Uh, not so fast, say Gregg Olsen and M. William Phelps, the dynamic duo responsible for the increasingly popular true crime blog CrimeRant. They break down what's likely happening in a lively IM chat posted on the blog. "I think I'm going to puke," Olsen says. "This is why the rest of the world hates us. This is the real reason for the Jihad. Every time something like this happens Americans look for ways to make a buck." And as for the college education reason, Both of them slam it into the ground. "That is such a damn lie," says Olsen. "They don't care about college educations. They just have their paws out." Adds Phelps: "They want to cash in now before the candle burns out." Email This Post |
