Celebrating the Hudson River in Verse
Photographer Miriam Berkley sent us this picture of Paul Muldoon reading at last night’s “Poetic Celebration of the Hudson River” at the Battery Park City Ferry Terminal. “It was a stunning setting in which to hear Muldoon, John Ashbery, Yusef Komunyakaa, Jorie Graham, John Koethe, Eavan Boland and Toon Tellegen.” She added that although Tellegen read “Poem for Henry Hudson” in his native Dutch, there were so many people and place names in the poem that the printed translation wasn’t really necessary.
The event was hosted by Carcanet Press editorial director Michael Schmidt, who also announced (on Facebook) a giveaway of the evening’s commemorative pamphlet, which features all the poems read last night.
