Choose Your Own Twitter Adventure

chooseyrown.jpgJust when you thought Twitter was tapped out as a storytelling medium, BuzzFeed co-founder Jonah Peretti (pictured) has broken new ground in Twitter Lit–Choose Your Own Twitter Adventure.

GalleyCat has reported on Twitter Lit since its earliest days, but we haven’t seen anything like this yet. The simple Twitter story lets the reader make choices and move into other links along the Twitter stream. It’s a very short story, but his example could inspire a whole new breed of interactive Twitter fiction.

Here’s the opening tweet, a basic, open-ended spy plot: “You’re assigned a dangerous mission to save the world! Do you 1) http://bit.ly/Accept-Mission or 2) http://bit.ly/Go-On-Vacation” (Via Robin Sloan)

UPDATE: The adventure story was part of a Twitter contest between Peretti and Omar Wasow. Here are the details: “Head-to-head twitter battle tomorrow with @owasow. Most clicks on bit.ly links wins. I will need your help clicking and retweeting! Thx!”
