One of the first pros I was lucky enough to meet as I poked around San Diego Comic-Con last night was Terry Moore (right), creator of the independent comic Strangers in Paradise. I'd become familiar with the series through its comic book-sized trade paperback collections, so I asked him about some of the shorter but thicker editions I saw stacked at his booth. It turns out he developed these "pocket books" two years ago in response to demands from the bookstore and library market for uniform volumes that looked more like, well, books than comic books. But now they've become the best selling editions of his multi-volume graphic novel, which is winding its way to a close after more than a dozen years. Moore's taking part in a panel Saturday to discuss what he'll be doing next, so I asked if there was anything he could leak to me. "That's the thing," he laughed. "I don't know yet."
