In the latest iteration of the hype over the Dark Tower comic book, which builds off the characters and stories from Stephen King's seven-volume epic, Marvel has convinced nearly 150 comic book shops to open at midnight on February 7 to start selling the first issue. NYT comic book expert George Gene Gustines (who I'm hoping I get to meet at Comic-Con next month, hint hint) reports that Manhattan's Midtown Comics will also have the writer-artist team of Peter David and Jae Lee on hand to meet with fans. (True story: David was the very first industry pro I ever met, back when I was 16 and managed to finesse my dad into taking me to a comic book convention, and I assume he's still as nice a guy then as he was then.)
