Conan the Digitalist

Movie-Poster-Conan-The-Barbarian.jpgNext year California governor and retired “Conan the Barbarian” star Arnold Schwarzenegger hopes to switch students to digital math and science textbooks.

According to the Guardian, California spent $350 million for school books last year, and Schwarzenegger is convinced digital books can drive down those costs. The governor called print textbook expenses “nonsensical” in this digital age, and, as GalleyCat reported, many companies are vying for control of the digital textbook market.

Here’s a quote
from California’s governor: “Basically kids are feeling as comfortable with their electronic devices as I was with my pencils and crayons. Textbooks are outdated, in my opinion … For so many years, we’ve been trying to teach the kids exactly the same way.” (Via Book Bench)
