David Foster Wallace, 1962-2008

david-foster-wallace.jpgThe literary community was stunned Saturday night as news of the death of David Foster Wallace, an apparent suicide, spread via Twitter, Facebook status updates and blog posts. He was best known as the author of Infinite Jest, but also wrote several other volumes of fiction and nonfiction; the publication of one of his footnnote-laden articles in magazines like Harper’s and The Atlantic sometimes became something of a literary event in and of itself.

Readers with memories of Mr. Wallace are invited to share them in the comments section below, or to email GalleyCat so that they may be appended here.
