Drenka Willen Wins Lifetime Achievement Award

logo_sbs_worldwide.gifHarcourt Houghton Mifflin senior editor Drenka Willen was awarded the London Book Fair Lifetime Achievement Award yesterday. The award was sponsored by SBS Worldwide, in association with the UK Publishers Association.

Willen’s author list includes Gunter Grass, Umberto Eco, Jose Saramago, and Wislawa Szymborska. Writers on her list have won Nobel Prize, the Pulitzer Prize, Poet Laureate of the United States, the National Book Award, and the Booker Prize.

Willen was laid off by HMH last year, but she was brought back to the company earlier this year. According to reports, a number of authors on her list wrote a letter protesting her layoff. (Via Three Percent)
