E-Readers Featured in App Awards

Voting has just opened for the first annual App Awards and GalleyCat explored the books categories—giving a glimpse into the range of applications available for readers with an iPhone. In “Best eBook Reader” category, two Amazon-owned readers—Stanza and Kindle for the iPhone—face off against lesser-known apps AudioBook Player and Eucalyptus.

The site also features an award for “Best Book Collection,” a crowded field of six applications, including AudioBook Player, Eucalyptus, and the top paid app in the books category: “Classics.” Classics was featured in an iPhone commercial, selling a large collection of classic works for 99-cents.

Here’s more about the $9.99 Eucalyptus app: “Read over 20,000 books on your iPhone using the Eucalyptus app for the iPhone for under 10 bucks. Eucalyptus downloads its books from the free Project Gutenberg archive.” (Via Publishers Weekly)
