"The movie biz is buzzing that publishing phenom Judith Regan [...] is allegedly pitching a semi-autobiographical feature film," Lloyd Grove reports. "Yesterday one Hollywood type described the project this way: 'It's a movie about her passionate relationship with a big-city police chief that turned dangerous.'"
But Regan told me that's all a big misunderstanding. "I'm pitching a Jess Walter novel called 'Citizen Vince,' and it's an incredible story," she said. "Jess was the collaborator on Kerik's book, and he's always writing about cops and crime. The protagonist happens to be a male in the witness protection program. But will there be police chiefs and cops and love affairs? You bet!" Regan, who's publishing "Citizen Vince," is a producer on the movie project.
It's probably for the best this way. Judith Regan's life story could only work as a small-screen miniseries.
