Eight Dogs Named Jack by Joe Borri

Although this book is not written by an author of color, I thought I might share it with you. It is called Eight Dogs Named Jack (Momentum Books) and it is written by Joe Borri.

It tells the story, or more like stories, of racial tension and transition in the city of Detroit. The story mostly focuses on what life is like for Italian Americans during a time when wise guys ran the city during the 60′s and 70s.

What’s great about this book is that it is a collection of short stories, so if you’re a busy man or woman and just want a quick dose you can turn to any of these stories and read them for quick enjoyment without feeling like you need to read the entire book in one sitting.
