Ellen DeGeneres Lands a Book Deal
Comedian Ellen DeGeneres has added another book to her collection, selling an untitled memoir to Grand Central. Publication is scheduled for 2011.
According to Publishers Lunch, the deal was negotiated by ICM agents Esther Newberg and Eddy Yablans, attorney Kevin Yorn, and manager Eric Gold. DeGeneres has one of the strongest platforms in America with 4,775,359 followers on Twitter, a spot on American Idol, and her own talk show. She’s written a few books, including The Funny Thing Is… and My Point…And I Do Have One.
Here’s more from Publishers Lunch: “DeGeneres’s untitled look at her life through her humor (‘I found that between my talk show, American Idol and my late night blogging, I didn’t have enough ways to express myself’)”

These days, writers aren’t just writers: They’re social-media mavens, seasoned public speakers, and one-person publicity machines. And they still have to find time to write their books!
