Featured Agent of Color – Sandy Lu

Sandy Lu3.jpg

Chinese-American literary agent, Sandy Lu never thought she would become an agent. With a BA in psychology and sociology, perhaps she could have easily ended up in that field. Instead, her passion for theater, story and the arts bit and bit hard. She turned that interest into a successful career as a literary agent beginning in 2006.

Since then, Lu has joined the seasoned Perkins Literary Agency where she has a particular interest in representing multi-cultural fiction, thrillers, upscale women’s fiction, narrative non-fiction and edgy, contemporary urban fiction.

A native Chinese speaker, Lu also studied Japanese in college and feels that “as new technologies make the world smaller, we will see more cross-cultural exchanges of ideas.” Not one to let the “unprecedented global economic crisis” deter her, she’s grateful to be part of an agency with an excellent track record.
