Grumpy Literary Agent Publishes Bad Query Excerpts

slushpilehell.jpgA self-identified “grumpy literary agent” just opened a Tumblr blog to highlight awkward moments in author queries. It’s called SlushPile Hell.

Yesterday the agent highlighted this query: “Greetings agent. I have written the most important book on earth.” The agent responded: “Will someone, for the love of God, please kill me.” Just like Query Fail day last year, the attitude will likely earn a mix of praise and controversy.

Here’s more from the anonymous blogger: “Relax, writers. SlushPile Hell will never mock anyone’s actual book concept or plot or sample writing. These are just isolated snippets that you have to admit, really are… oh, never mind. You’ll get pissed off regardless.”
