The morning after HBO’s adaptation of James M. Cain‘s Mildred Pierce won two acting Emmy Awards, Hard Case Crime announced they have found a long lost novel by the hardboiled writer. The Cocktail Waitress will be published next fall.
Here’s more from the release: “The Cocktail Waitress is the story of beautiful young widow Joan Medford, whose husband died under suspicious circumstances. Desperate to make ends meet after his death, Joan takes a job as a waitress in a cocktail lounge, where two new men enter her life: a handsome young schemer she falls for and a rich but unwell older man she marries.”
Last night, Guy Pearce won the supporting actor in a miniseries or movie award and Kate Winslet won the best actress Emmy in the same category.
