HarperCollins will publish an eBook edition of The Giving Tree by Shel Silverstein on February 18th.
This release marks the first time a Silverstein title was released as a digital book. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Silverstein “never allowed paperback editions of his books.”
The publisher organized this to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the publication of this iconic children’s book. How will you be celebrating this momentous occasion?
In addition to The Giving Tree, Silverstein published three other children’s titles in 1964: A Giraffe and a Half, Who Wants a Cheap Rhinoceros?, and Uncle Shelby’s Zoo: Don’t Bump the Glump! and Other Fantasies. Earlier this year, we collected three tips on how to honor the 50th anniversary of another Silverstein picture book, Lafcadio, the Lion Who Shot Back.
