Is a Bestseller About to Disappear?
Got a weird anonymous tip today from somebody who claims he or she is passing along an email from Ingram about a major national bestseller that “we’ve been told… will not be reprinted.” The email then goes on to cite inventory figures in the low hundreds for two warehouses, one on each coast, adding, “I know this is an alternate warehouse order for most of you but it looks like a last chance from us if you need it.” The director of publicity for the book’s publisher didn’t know anything about it when I called, so maybe it’s all just BS. If anybody else hears anything about a current nonfiction bestseller being allowed to die on the vine, though, feel free to let me know.
