It’s the Baddest Blog in the Whole Darn Town
My FishbowlNY colleague Dylan passed along his footnotes to Prosper Assouline’s insider’s look at publishing, and I had quite a good laugh at the unleashed snarkitude (“Christie’s, where most busy book publishers go after a two-hour lunch at the Four Seasons”). Then I went to a new website that has some real insights into how the book biz works: the Greenleaf Book Group’s Big Bad Book Blog. It’ll tell you if you really have a shot at Oprah, how to minimize returns, and why cover design is important.

These days, writers aren’t just writers: They’re social-media mavens, seasoned public speakers, and one-person publicity machines. And they still have to find time to write their books!
