James Cameron to Write Avatar Novel

9780061896750.jpgDirector James Cameron will write a novel based on the world of his box office record-breaking film, Avatar.

Producer Jon Landau told MTV News: “Jim is going to write a novel himself … Not a novelization–and there is a distinction. A novelization basically retells the story of the movie. Jim wants to write a novel that is a big, epic story that fills in a lot of things.”

The book isn’t a bad bet. Earlier this year, we reported on how HarperCollins’ It Books imprint had released the the tie-in book, Avatar: A Confidential Report on the Biological and Social History of Pandora (pictured). It currently holds the second place spot on the Amazon.com Bestsellers in Movie Tie-Ins and first place on the Bestsellers in Genre Films list. (Via Blake Gernstetter)
