Jodi Picoult to write for Wonder Woman

Now, this bit of news is particularly timely what with the new Superman movie, the Spiderman 3 trailer garnering huge raves, and a recent conversation with my brother about why Wonder Woman has never quite worked – mostly because no one’s really known what to do with the character (never mind all those godawful villains. I mean, really.) So will Jodi Picoult, bestselling author of women’s fiction (most recently THE TENTH CIRCLE), have an impact? It’ll be interesting to see when the first part of her five-issue run of Wonder Woman is to be published next year.

When I was approached by DC, I was completely taken aback that they were even thinking of me,” she said to the New York Times’ George Gene Gustines. “It’s completely an honor.” Picoult becomes the second high-profile writer for Wonder Woman after Allan Heinberg, a writer for “The O.C.” on Fox, whose run began last month.
