Let’s Look at Nasdijj’s Yearbook Picture!
While the world waits to see if Esquire is really doing a story on Tim “Nasdijj” Barrus or not, the City Pulse of Lansing, Michigan celebrates its hometown hoaxster. Check out his high school yearbook photo at left; apparently, PEN’s favorite Native American author of 2004 was a dead ringer for Seann William Scott. Hollywood producers take note!
And now, here’s today’s excerpt from the manuscript Barrus is shopping around to the publishers who haven’t gotten sick of dealing with him yet!
“I hate living in the South. I find the South to be beneath contempt. I have loathed every minute spent in North Carolina. It was my wife who insisted we live here. My eyes to the sky. North Carolina makes my skin crawl. I could piss on it.”
Fun contextual fact: Barrus was picking up extra cash in between memoirs by writing book reviews for The News and Observer in Raleigh. Second fun fact: As Sarah pointed out to me last night, James Frey also grew up in Michigan!
