Scrapbook: Gossip Edition

kidmanpullman.jpg

  • The film adaptation of Philip Pullman's His Dark Materials trades in the Church for Nicole Kidman. (Pullman "yearns" to see Kidman "as the evil Mrs. Coulter," writes Liz Smith.)
  • Steve Weinberg, writing for the Baltimore Sun, blames Kitty Kelley on Bob Woodward.
  • "Nobel-winning South African author JM Coetzee produced one of the most poignant post apartheid literary works when he penned Disgrace in 1999," and Hollywood is now prepared to read those words in Movie-Voice. (Given the obvious headlines, here's hoping that the film's half-good.)
  • Sylvester Stallone's slyly titled Sly Moves (HarperCollins) hits the shelves in May. Those familiar with its content liken it to Stallone's upcoming magazine, Sly.
  • On the heels of James Stewart's Disneywar comes Peter Lefcourt's new novel, The Manhattan Beach Project. "Lefcourt's book, which like Stewart's is published by Simon & Schuster, includes real characters such as Eisner in the tale of a failed reality show," Page Six reports. "Lefcourt's agents at ICM are getting a lot of interest from Hollywood studios eager to turn the book into a movie, we're told, though obviously Disney isn't among the bidders."
