More Of Your Favorite Rock BooksYesterday's batch of literary recommendations from the school of rock inspired a few more GalleyCat readers to send in suggestions. "The rock novel has seen many a good writer become unstuck," says Jon Howells from the Waterstone's bookshops in England. "The one rock novel I remember enjoying was Fuel Injected Dreams by James Robert Baker, which was a Phil Spector-inspired story of rock and roll excess." Simon & Schuster VP Adam Rothberg seconds that recommendation, and notes that the novel was brought back into print a few years ago by Thunder's Mouth. Here's what else you like:
Also, Three Rivers editor (and occasional mediabistro.com guest speaker) Brandi Bowles reminds us that last month, she scooped up a new anthology from Sean Manning, the anthologist behind The Show I'll Never Forget; this time around, he's got twenty-five writers weighing in on pop music's greatest rivalries for But Prince Don't Moonwalk. "I can't name names just yet," Bowles teases, "but... it's looking very promising. We've just added a few names from our collective musical past that are sure to thrill pop culture junkies and music heads alike. Plus, I know you're dying to find out who wins the Parliament versus Funkadelic debate." Like the answer to that isn't obvious; I love the Mothership mythology as much as the next guy, but, come on: Eddie Hazel, man. Email This Post |
