More about Dutton’s closing

After the news broke yesterday that the Beverly Hills location of Dutton’s would be shutting down by year’s end, the bookstore issued a statement. Contrary to the city issued press release, “the community” not purchasing “enough books” was not the reason we were forced to close. Instead, Dutton’s said, the fault lay in the failure to develop a partnership between the store, Regent Properties and the City of Beverly Hills to keep the bookstore going. When that did not materialize, the store was forced to close.
