Narrative Urge Mystery Writer Unmasked

For the past two years, random people in Atlanta received envelopes with handwritten notes, strange codes, story excerpts, and ten-dollar bills.

This literary art project has been curated by a mystery writer called “Narrative Urge.” Now, Narrative Urge has come forward and unmasked himself.

SPOILER ALERT: If you prefer to remain blissfully ignorant of the writer behind these messages, stop reading this post now…

Randy Osborne, an Atlanta-based writer and curator of Carapace Raconteurs storytelling events series, is the mastermind behind the ”care package”-style envelopes.

In an interview with WABE, he explained why he decided to come forward: “I really wanted to claim this project as mine. It’s one of the things I’d done while I’m on the earth…but I didn’t want to do that until as much juice had been wrung out of it by the people who were enjoying it as they could wring.”

Osborne managed to send out 100 envelopes. Prior to his unmasking, Internet fans set up a Wikipedia page to try to crack the mystery.
