Nibble on the Nibbie shortlist

The British Book Awards announced all manners of shortlist yesterday for various categories, including the WHSmith Book of the Year, which could prove to be more exciting than usual.

That’s because Piers Morgan and Jeremy Clarkson, who came to blows a couple of years ago at these same awards, are both nominated. And the Guardian’s Michelle Pauli gets a choice quote from Morgan: “I am absolutely desperate to win, purely to see Jeremy Clarkson’s face as I do a little celebratory conga on stage.” Never mind that the category is heavily celebrified, so chances are there will be no happy-dancing for him…

The awards will be broadcast on Channel 4 on Saturday, April 1, hosted by Richard and Judy (who will pick the winner of their own category, based on the 10 books they chose on their TV show at the beginning of the year.)
