Novelist Graham Joyce To Write for Doom Video Game Sequel
Novelist Graham Joyce announced that he will be writing for the upcoming Doom 4 video game, lending his award-winning style to the space battle game that has captivated players for 15 years.
Joyce has won the Best Novel award from the British Fantasy Society four times, and is a long-time fan of the franchise that pits space marines against hordes of alien demons and zombie soldiers. If this interests you, GalleyCat has more advice on How To Write for Video Games.
On his website, the author explained the game’s connection to his creativity, a scenario familiar to any videogame-loving writer:
“Over the years I’ve been grassed up by the savages more than once, who, with their ears pressed to the door, can hear the blast of explosions and the groans of demons atomised before my cannon fire; whereupon they instantly report me to their mother. I can hear their excitable voices on the other side of the door: mum, he’s not writing he’s playing computer games! Now, since I’ve been hired to contribute to the storyline of Doom 4 I can say what was always true anyway. I’m working.”
