Now Let’s Look at Book Trailers!

I’m traveling today, so I don’t have a lot of time to write—perhaps you’d like to watch some book trailers instead?

Here’s a just-under-7-minute film co-produced by Academy Award-nominated director Alfonso Cuarón for The Shock Doctrine, the new book from cultural critic Naomi Klein, with animated scenes of psychological and physical torture that many of you might find unsettling to the point of NSFW, along with semi-exploitative 9/11 footage.

After that, you could probably use a 35-second palate cleanser in the form of this trailer for Rachel C. Weingarten‘s Career and Corporate Cool:

This video from Linda and Allen Anderson of Angel Animals isn’t especially visually dynamic; pretty much all they do is sit at a table and tell stories from Angel Cats. BUT! They have their own cat, Cuddles, sitting on the table, poking at the books, and just generally stealing the show. (They have another book about dogs, with a similar but smaller cameo.)
