Obama Book Raises $11K in One Day

kickstarter_book.jpgUsing a unique pre-pay model, the creators of the book “Designing Obama” will self publish via funds submitted by readers: a $10 donation for an ebook, $50 donation for a print and digital copy.

Scott Thomas, the design director of President Barack Obama‘s 2008 campaign, is raising money for the first print run of the design book about the artwork that helped Obama win the election. The author used the online fundraising site Kickstarter to finance the book, and collected $11,056 the first day he posed. As of this writing, Thomas has raised more than $15,000 of the $65,000 he hopes to collect by November 5th to print the book.

Here’s more from the site: ” Get the inside story on how design was used by the campaign, and scope out the pieces, created unofficially, by grassroots supporters. The 360-page book is full-color and hardbound, highly crafted with an embossed sleeve. Forewords written by Steven Heller and Michael Bierut.” (Via Robin Sloan)
