Pop-Up Book Champion Has Died

space.jpgEarlier this month, Waldo Hunt, the founder of Intervisual Books and pop-up book champion, passed away at 88-years-old. He left behind a collection of 4,000 pop-up books he found over the course of his life.

Here’s more biography from Flavorwire: “After selling his West Coast-based advertising agency in the early 60s, Hunt ended up in New York City. Disillusioned with his company’s fate, Hunt looked for a new passion. He found it on Fifth Avenue when he caught a glimpse of a Czechoslovakian children’s pop-up book in a toy store window. From that moment on, Hunt essentially became the pop-up business.”

The Flavorwire article also features a list of their editors’ favorite pop-up books, complete with YouTube links and photos–like the pictured space-age title, “Voyage To The Heart Of Matter–The Atlas Experiment At CERN” by Emma Sanders and Anton Radevsky. Feel free to add your favorites in the comments section.
