Read Your Favorite Blog on Your Nook (Maybe)

barnes-noble-nook.jpgAlthough most of the hoopla surrounding Tuesday’s unveiling of the Nook, Barnes & Noble‘s proprietary electronic reading device, has understandably centered on what this means for the struggle to dominate the emerging ebook market, it’s also worth noting that the Nook plans to compete with Amazon.com‘s Kindle on another front: blog subscriptions. B&N has cut a deal with Bloggapedia, a website run by former B&N employee Laura Dawson, to provide Nook users with paid access to the hand-picked directory’s 8,000-plus blogs—although they’ll be converted to EPUB documents rather than read as straight RSS feeds (that last bit according to Michael Cader at Publishers Marketplace).

(As far as we can tell, neither GalleyCat nor any other mediabistro.com blogs are part of that package yet, but who knows what could happen by January?)
