Richard Price to Write Detective Series Under Pen Name

Lush Life.jpgRichard Price, the author of Clockers and Lush Life, just signed a book deal with Henry Holt and Company. Price will write a series of detective thrillers set in New York City under the pen name, Jay Morris.

The series is not-yet-titled, but a release is set for Fall 2011. Sarah Weinman reports reports that since 2008, Price has undergone a series of big life changes, including a divorce and a New York City neighborhood move.

Weinman interviewed Price back in 2008 when he released the novel, Lush Life. During the interview, the author confessed he has a tendency to not stick to deadlines and be late with his work. He said: “It’s like construction work; a guy looks at your kitchen, says the job will take two weeks. Three months later he says ‘Ah, the stuff from Italy didn’t come, sorry about that.’ From the outside, anticipating how it’s supposed to go is nice, but there’s that saying, if you want to make God laugh, tell him your plans.”
