Scene @ Lit Mag Holiday Bash

So a bunch of literary magazines—including A Public Space, Fence, One Story, Open City, Post Road, and Tin House—threw a party at the Mercury Lounge early Sunday night to spread the holiday cheer. And few things say holiday cheer like performance artist/writer Mike Albo reciting the lyrics to Paris Hilton’s “Jealousy,” right? One Story editor Hannah Tinti was also in a festive spirit as she introduced a subsequent performance by Molly Jong-Fast (after which Joanna Yas of Open City brought out Sam Lipsyte to read the lyrics of Billy Joel’s “Captain Jack”). The room was packed with literati, who quickly burned their way through the open bar tab (before I even showed up, dammit!), and two hours later everybody was on their way home. Now that’s a party!
