Simon & Schuster Opens Publishing Company in India

Simon & Schuster CEO Carolyn Reidy unveiled Simon & Schuster India today–a “sales, marketing and publishing company” based in New Delhi.

Simon & Schuster U.K. managing director Ian Chapman will oversee the company.  Rahul Srivastava will serve as director of sales and marketing in the New Delhi office and lead a team of regional sales managers.

Reidy had this statement: “This new business makes clear our commitment to both the Indian marketplace and global publishing … India is a rapidly developing market for English language books, with a growing retail bookstore presence, and a deep-seated culture that prizes books and literacy, and we are very excited to bring more of our authors’ books to India’s expanding audience of English readers.”
