Strike Up The World’s Smallest Violin
The latest spin on HarperCollins’s decision not to publish If I Did It? How does this hurt the bookstores? The Associated Press is suggesting that what with all the pre-orders at online retailers like Amazon.com and Barnes & Noble, “book sellers stand to lose out on some sales during the all-important holiday season.” Get me a new shirt, I think my heart may be bleeding. Wasn’t it just last month insiders were trying to tell us there’s already too many big books this season? Anyway, according to PW Daily, most booksellers are glad not to deal with this. As one owner put it, “We didn’t want to be put in a spot, and now we won’t be.”
