Alicia Silverstone Pens Parenting Book

aliciasilverstoneActress Alicia Silverstone has written a new parenting book called The Kind Mama, in which she advocates for happiness during pregnancy and postpartum through a vegan diet and lifestyle.

“I knew there was another way and it would be a more enjoyable, lovely way,” she told the Associated Press in a recent interview. “So I started talking to doctors and medical experts, doing tons of research and found that there was so much support for this way. I wanted to make a guide for women so they could have that experience that they deserved to have.”

The Rodale publication is the second book from the actress and author. Her first book, The Kind Diet, a vegetarian lifestyle guide, was a New York Times bestseller. She is also working on another book for Rodale called The Kind Diet Cookbook, which will include healthy recipes. That title is slated for publication later this year.

Rodale Books acquired the world rights to Silverstone’s latest two titles in 2012 in a deal with Jennifer Rudolph Walsh, EVP and Co-Head of William Morris Endeavor Worldwide Literary Department.

Alicia Silverstone Lands Deal for Two Books

Author and actress Alicia Silverstone has sold her next two books to Rodale. The Kind Mama will be first, followed by The Kind Diet Cookbook.

Both book expand upon Silverstone’s The Kind Diet, a 2009 Rodale book focused on “spectacular benefits of adopting a plant-based diet.” William Morris Endeavor Worldwide literary department co-head Jennifer Rudolph Walsh negotiated the deal with publisher Stephen Perrine. Silverstone announced the deal to her more than 162,000 Twitter followers today.

Silverstone had this comment: “With my next book, I want to give women what I wish I’d had when I was getting ready for baby: an easy-to-follow resource that’s as inspiring as it is informative. I want women to know that they hold the power to not only have an amazing pregnancy, free of fear, anxiety, and discomfort, but also to feel beautiful while doing it. My book will empower women to become happy, healthy mommies-to-be who give birth to, and raise, even happier, healthier babies.”
