Jason Momoa to Play Aquaman in the ‘Batman vs. Superman: Dawn of Justice’ Movie

AquamanActor Jason Momoa has landed the role of Aquaman in the Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice movie.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Momoa has become well-known for his portrayal of the character Khal Drogo in the Game of Thrones HBO series. An announcement on Facebook has received more than 200 “likes.”

Other confirmed members of the cast include Henry Cavill as Superman, Ben Affleck as Batman, Jesse Eisenberg as Lex LuthorGal Gadot as Wonder Woman, and Amy Adams as Lois Lane. The release date for this film, originally scheduled for July 2015, has been moved to May 2016. What do you think?

Denzel Washington & Bryan Cranston Rumored to Join the Cast of ‘Batman vs. Superman’

423169_422604344480259_820537953_nRumor has it that Academy Award winner Denzel Washington will play the Green Lantern in the forthcoming Batman vs. Superman movie. Earlier this month, Nuke the Fridge reported another theory that named Washington (pictured, via) as the actor who will portray Lex Luthor.

Washington is not the only actor whose name has been linked to Superman’s evil adversary. According to ScreenRant, comic book fans speculated that Breaking Bad actor Bryan Cranston would take on the role. Below, we’ve embedded a fan-made trailer that features Cranston as Lex Luthor.

On the Road Trailer Released

A teaser trailer has been released for the film adaptation of Jack Kerouac‘s beloved book, On the Road. Much of the plot featured in this novel was derived from Kerouac’s true life road trip adventures.

We’ve embedded the trailer above–what do you think? The movie will hit theaters in New York City and Los Angeles on December 21st. A national release will follow in January 2013.

Filmmaker Walter Salles cast actors Tom Sturridge and Garrett Hedlund to play the lead characters. Other cast members include Twilight actress Kristen Stewart, Doubt actress Amy Adams, and Lord of the Rings actor Viggo Mortensen.

Gillian Flynn Inks Movie Deal for Gone Girl

Thriller novelist Gillian Flynn has just landed a “seven-figure” deal with 20th Century Fox for the movie rights to her bestseller, Gone Girl. The novelist will write the screenplay.

Reese Witherspoon, Bruna Papandrea and Leslie Dixon will produce the Gone Girl project. Witherspoon also optioned Wild by Cheryl Strayed earlier this year. If you want to explore the book, check out our Gone Girl library post.

Deadline Hollywood had the scoop: “Flynn, who has three novels on the bestseller lists all at once, has two other movie projects in the works. Dark Places has Amy Adams attached to star, with Gilled Paquet-Brenner directing and her first novel, Sharp Objects, was optioned by Alliance with Blumhouse’s Jason Blum producing.”

Muppets Parody Green Lantern Adaptation

Poking fun at the Green Lantern adaptation coming to movie theaters this weekend, The Muppets released a parody trailer with references to the comic book superhero.

Amy Adams to Play Lois Lane

Oscar-nominated actress Amy Adams (pictured, via) will play Lois Lane in Zach Snyder‘s production of Superman. According to The Los Angeles Times, Snyder has labeled Adams’ character as the “linchpin of the project.”

Snyder explained: “It goes back to what I’ve said about Superman and making him really understandable for today. What’s important to us is making him relevant and real and making him empathetic to today’s audience so that we understand the decisions he makes.  That applies to Lois as well.”

Superman co-creators Jerry Siegel (writer) and Joe Shuster (artist) based Lois Lane‘s personality on a mix of two real-life journalists, Torchy Blane and Nellie Bly. Other actresses who have portrayed her in previous film and television adaptations include Margot KidderTeri Hatcher, and Kate Botsworth. (via Deadline)

Amy Adams & Viggo Mortensen to Co-Star in Adaptation of Jack Kerouac’s On the Road

Novelist Jack Kerouac‘s On the Road is coming to the big screen with a stunning cast that includes Amy Adams and Viggo Mortensen.

MTV has the scoop (complete with a long list of other actors involved): “Amy will be playing Jane, the ‘emotionally damaged junkie mother of two children and the wife of Old Bull Lee,’ while Viggo will be playing Old Bull Lee. Bull was inspired by real life author William S. Burroughs, and Jane was inspired by his second wife Joan Vollmer, who died after William accidentally shot her head while drunk.”
