Simon & Schuster CEO Celebrates Children’s Division After Historic Year

s&slogo23.jpgIn her annual holiday letter to staffers, Simon & Schuster CEO Carolyn K. Reidy singled out the Children’s division for achieving its best year ever.

Here’s more from the letter: “Our Children’s Publishing division is booming and their results this year are the strongest in their history.  Much of the groundwork they have laid is now paying off, and the strength of their publishing, in particular in the teen, fantasy and middle grade categories with authors such as Cassandra Clare, Rachel Renee Russell, Becca Fitzpatrick and Thomas Sniegoski, is indicative of their ability to adjust to and benefit from the quickly changing tastes of our younger reading audience.”

The letter also noted that the publisher counted 154 New York Times bestsellers in 2010, with 14 titles climbing to the number one spot on the list. In addition, the publisher celebrated 15 titles on the New York Times Book Review’s 100 Notable Books of the Year.

Becca Fitzpatrick’s Hush, Hush Series to End with Tempest

Becca Fitzpatrick‘s young-adult series, Hush, Hush will come to a close with the third and final book, Tempest. Publication is set for October 18th, 2011 with an initial print run of 250,000 copies. Fitzgerald will tour the country in support of the release.

Fitzpatrick had this statement: “Hush, Hush was my very first book, and it’s so thrilling to see it embraced by so many readers. It’s been a truly life changing experience. Patch and Nora’s story isn’t half told until Tempest, and I hope readers will find it the most enticing book yet.”

One of our acquaintances will dress up as Hunger Games‘ heroine Katniss Everdeen for Halloween. The Hush, Hush series features Patch Cipriano, a fallen angel and supernatural hottie. Perhaps “Patch” angels will also make a splash next costume season? Replicating this cover wouldn’t be too much of a challenge, would it?
