Tiger Beat & Y.A. Authors Rock Out at New York Public Library

Usually you can’t talk inside a library, much less have a rock concert. Last night, Tiger Beat (a band comprised of Y.A. authors) played inside the 42nd Street New York Public Library.

Jack Martin hosted the NYC Teen Author Festival event, titled “Y.A. Rocks.” The night included music-related-readings from Philana Marie Boles, Jon Skovron, Jeri Smith-Ready, and Rita Williams-Garcia. Band members Libba Bray, Daniel Ehrenhaft, and Barney Miller also read.

The video embedded above shows Tiger Beat playing their original song, “Y.A. Song.” The lyrics make references to The Hunger Games, The Chocolate Wars, Catcher in the Rye, and several other titles. As they played, NYPL intern Zach held up specially-made illustrated cue cards with the lyrics to the song. It was his first day on the job.

Novelist Jason Pinter Gets Two-Book Deal for YA Series

authorphoto.jpgToday thriller novelist Jason Pinter (pictured) announced he sold a new YA series, Zeke Bartholomew: Superspy! in a two-book deal.

The book sold to Jabberwocky senior editor Daniel Ehrenhaft, and the deal was negotiated by Joe Veltre at The Veltre Company.

Here’s more from Pinter: “Zeke is just like me and just like you. He’s not very popular, kind of dorky, not particularly brave, not particularly skilled, and must rely on the same things you or I might if we were tasked with saving the world (that’s where the dumb luck part comes in). These books will be funny and full of adventure and I can’t wait to share more about Zeke’s world with you. There will be action, humor, and a whole lot of gadgets that seem to serve no purpose whatsoever (but maybe Zeke will find a use for them).”
